Beef Welfare Scheme 2026 

The 2026 Beef Welfare Scheme is now open, providing support to beef farmers to improve animal health, nutrition and welfare. The scheme is worth up to €75 per eligible calf, with payment available on a maximum of 45 calves per herd.

The meal-feeding action is mandatory, with a payment of €35 per calf. Farmers can also choose to complete the vaccination action (€15 per calf) and/or the faecal/forage testing action (€25 per calf). The vaccination option includes Bluetongue vaccination, as well as the other eligible vaccines.

Farmers completing all three actions could receive up to €3,375 per holding. As always, it is important to ensure that all scheme requirements, records and deadlines are fully complied with.
