- All agricultural land should be tested every 5 years.
Very expensive fertiliser prices: why waste your money on fertiliser when you have no accurate knowledge of what your soil requires?
- The basic test assesses the soil for pH levels, lime levels, Phosphorous (P) and Potassium (K) levels.
- Correct P, K and lime levels in the soil are essential for grass growth, strength and quality and have a direct relationship to healthy livestock.
- Average cost of fertiliser per tonne is in the region of 400 euro yet it costs only approximately 50 cent per acre to soil sample and the samples will be valid for 5 years.
- A more detailed test for trace elements can also be taken.
All farmers are subject to Cross Compliance inspections and you will be expected to produce a fertiliser plan, fertiliser invoices and concentrate purchases (1 tonne of meal is the equivalent of 5kg). It can be very simple to breach the regulations but by taking soil samples and completing an associated nutrient plan you will easily meet the requirements.
What can we provide for you?
- Save fertiliser costs on your farm which will increase your farm profitability.
Provide accurate advice and fertiliser requirements/recommendations on a field by field basis with an easy to read report and associated farm maps.
- Provide you with a tailored nutrient plan of your farm.
- Visit your farm, take soil samples and discuss your nutrient options.
- Discuss the option of importing/exporting cattle and/or pig slurry.
- Complete all the above in a farmer friendly pack for your own use and for the Department of Agriculture in the event you receive a farm inspection.
How much will it cost?
For as little as 1 euro per acre for a 5 year period (on an average 60 acre farm), we can take accurate soil samples and provide a tailored nutrient plan for your farm.
- If you require fertiliser records to be completed for your farm, we can also discuss this additional service with you.
- Savings for you in terms of avoiding Cross Compliance penalties and preventing reporting of any breaches to the local authority.
Remember – incorrectly purchasing 1 tonne of fertiliser over the next 5 years will more than pay for the cost of a tailored and accurate nutrient plan for your farm *
